I have to say it: I really dig this version of Jay Garrick. There are a lot of things wrong with it, and I’m not sure if it’s just my personal bias towards him being my favorite version of the Flash, but I just dig him. What I miss about the Wally West version is he was always having fun, and I can’t remember the last time Barry Allen was any fun. That’s why I think I like this take, because Jay is kind of clueless, and somehow reminds me a little bit of Spider-Man. That’s why I liked the Flash from the start, the character was a little bit of both worlds—the Batman and Superman side. The fantastic powers, but also the brains and the slightly darker side, even though there wasn’t ever really a dark side to the character. He could inhabit both, especially Wally West, and I think this interpretation of Garrick takes that on. I think that’s why I really like this.
