Bill O’Reilly discusses how it is “impossible” that the Norway shooter Anders Breivik is a Christian, in yet another case for O’Reilly’s corporate stoogism. I try not to get into this kind of stuff too much here, but sometimes I get overwhelmed by hypocrisy and become angry with a need to call it out. The Huffington Post (I know) reports that despite all evidence to the contrary, Breivik more than definitely identified himself as a Christian, though an important distinction must be made: he does not believe in Jesus Christ which could, by default, be used to say he is not a Christian because of that. I think that’s a bullshit reason, but in his words:
He writes on page 1307 of his online manifesto:
“If you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and God then you are a religious Christian. Myself and many more like me do not necessarily have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and God. We do however believe in Christianity as a cultural, social, identity and moral platform. This makes us Christian.”
I suppose, Mr. O’Reilly, that even though he wrote it does not mean that he is a Christian. Do I believe his actions are decidedly anti-Christian? Sure, I believe the same thing about Muslims and most religions are anti-violence. Mr. O’Reilly, I believe you’re a pretty smart guy but this just further testifies that you are little more than a company man. And your behavior with this confirms it. You should not be listened to and you are just another example of what is so very wrong with mainstream news. Please go quietly into the night—your opinion is no longer relevant.
