Yes, very good, Ruben. I approve.
Here is some of the music I’ve been listening to this summer.
(Source: Spotify)
Currently listening: “Flashing Red Light Means Go” by The Boxer Rebellion.
“The Trickster” by Radiohead. Probably my favorite b-side.
Its free.
Video of Modest Mouse’s new track “The Whale Song”. (via BoingBoing).
There Goes the Fear - The Doves
First saw this video seven years ago, and something about how perfectly the tone of the song matched the story being told, I couldn’t get enough of it.
Of course, seven years ago, I basically had to wait around for it to show on tv if I wanted to watch it.
And even when music videos started to appear online, this one was a no show.
Now, I probably would’ve found it eventually, but the band never really delivered on the promise of this song for me, so they slowly but surely slipped out of my memory.
Fast forward to yesterday, when this song just happens to show up in 500 Days of Summer.
Truth be told, that right there is when I decided I liked that movie. “Oh what?!? They’re playing THIS???? Okay, okay, you got me.”
Could be one of my favorite videos of all time, and Doves is definitely in my top five favorite bands. Its unfortunate they’ve never really broken through, though their first three albums are really fucking great. Their recent album, Kingdom of Rust, is unfortunately not good.
