Impulse was a series that I attached myself to in high school and pretty much right along with Buffy and the Flash and the Lobdell-era X-Men, and Sandman Mystery Theatre and Starman. What was important to me about this series was that it was a character I greatly identified with who found himself in a new town that he didn’t really like. Very much like me. So the scene on page 6 was a picture I was intimately familiar with.

I always secretly wanted to have a double life, the nerdy lit based kid in school and the daring adventure-craving night owl. Instead I mostly spent my nights listening to “Two Step” by Dave Matthews Band and reading comics like these.
