This Johnny Depp/Doctor Who/Russell T. Davies... →
Apparently, people are livid about the idea of this happening.  Besides the people who have played the Doctor recently, I can’t imagine anyone being better than Depp for a big screen version.   However, the whole thing just doesn’t seem like it will ever happen.  And it’s probably better that way. Though, for the record, I am NOT against this idea at all.

The answer to this question should be a Runaways or a Young Avengers show.  I think both of those shows would work great with the Smallville demographic and since it is not really the Avengers (Captain America, Thor, etc) than I think those two options would be perfect. What’s everyone else think?

louobedlam: davidseger: Q: Most Writers succeed by persevering and having a drive to succeed and to keep writing no matter what. What is your Drive to create, and do you have any advice to other writers who are having trouble persevering?  A: I have no drive to succeed, I don’t persevere. Everything I’ve ever done that’s been hard to do failed. Everything I’ve ever done that was fun, and...

Tim Callahan's Top 10 Comics halfway through 2010.... →
Shockingly, there isn’t a single thing I disagree with on this list. Daytripper is hands down the best and SHIELD, Joe The Barbarian definitely are, without a doubt, the top three I’ve read this year. Though I’m not sure I would include American Vampire on my list, the jury is still out on that book for me, though it is definitely a different take on an old familiar and...

– David Benioff, in his novel City of Thieves. Funny, kind of sounds like my life right now without the mutant superheroes part which will definitely come later in my life, but Benioff is probably someone who is under the radar of a lot of you.  He’s the author of The 25th Hour and he’s...

Matt Fraction Interview at GQ.com →
11 pages on the future of Casanova. A great read. GQ: You’ve said that one of the reasons it’s been two years since the last all-new issue of Casanova is that you and your artists—the Twins, Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba—needed to go off and do some work that actually paid, for a change. FRACTION: Yeah. Were you being facetious, or was the hiatus actually an economic decision? No....

INT. TIBURON-DAY
They get back into the Tiburon and cruise down the street at a slow, deliberate crawl.  Leslie turns from the front seat and addresses Davis. “Readers would not have made the connection between this case and that article would they?” Davis turns his eyes from the window and just looks at her. “By making the cops,” she continues, “say something on it you put your connection into the reader’s head....

Brian Michael Bendis Interviews David Mamet. →
The result is probably one of the more writer-geektastic interviews ever. BENDIS: It’s funny, being a comic book writer and studying everything I can in order to come up with my own philosophy, having read almost every essay and book you’ve written about directing film and theater, the person you come closest to in theory is Stan Lee. You know, Stan Lee’s biggest philosophy...

The trailer for Warren Ellis’s RED.  Here are some notes from him with regards to the adaptation. Looks like fun and I think it’s quite odd that this is the one work of his I haven’t read and it’s the first thing of his getting the feature treatment. (I frankly think OCEAN would make for one helluva movie).  Good thing I have until October to read it.
